Not too long ago we talked about the Magellan RoadMate RV9145. Now we have yet another GPS navigation system for truckers and other big vehicle drivers. This one is called Magellan RoadMate 5190T and is designed for commercial drivers.
Here are some of the features:

Magellan RoadMate RV9145 is the latest GPS navigation system from the company that focuses on RV’s and trucks. It is going to sell for $399 according to their own website but we’ve seen other sites reporting lower numbers. Here are the facts for the RV9145:

RoadMate 5175T-LM GPS

Magellan just introduced a new RoadMate GPS with WiFi, called the Magellan RoadMate 5175T-LM GPS navigation device.
The new GPS navigation system is already available for purchase for $300. It comes with a 5″ touch screen and WiFi connectivity. With the Wifi you get a built-in internet browser that lets you search for destinations on popular social travel sites or points of interest. You can also check for software or map updates and download them right there and then.
Another cool feature for 5175-LM GPS is that you can hold the device in portrait mode to enjoy the hi-def screen vertical if that’s what you prefer.
It comes with maps of USA, Canada, and Puerto Rico, and you get free updates for the lifetime of the device up to four times a year. A few other features of Magellan RoadMate 5175T-LM include subscription-free lifetime traffic alerts, highway lane assist, and spoken street names.

the new Magellan RoadMate 9055-LM

Magellan has a new RoadMate called Magellan RoadMate 9055-LM from the 9000 series. This GPS navigation system has a giant 7″ touch screen and offers maps for U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. Plus you’re entitled to free map updates for the lifetime of the device.
Some other features of the Magellan 9055-LM include hands free phone calls with bluetooth, lifetime real-time traffic updates, audio video input to make use of the nice 7″ display, and built-in AAA TourBook.
Of course it has got all the standard features we’ve been used to see recently such as highway lane assistance, text to speech to speak street names, multi destination routing, and six million points of interests.
Magellan RoadMate 9055-LM is priced at $300.

Magellan eXplorist 310 GPS receiver

Magellan announced eXplorist 310 GPS receiver, a waterproof, and rugged handheld GPS designed for outdoor navigation. eXplorist 310 has some higher end features which includes a world map, and the ability to upload detailed maps to the device. It has a 2.2″ transflective color screen, GPS chipset with 3-5 meters of accuracy, and the ability to record waypoints, tracks, and routes. The pre-loaded World Edition map includes a road network of more than 200 countries and can store 10,000 paperless geocaches. It runs on two AA batteries which can last up to 18 hours of continual outdoor use.
The eXplorist 310 will be out in March 2011 for $200.

Magellan reveals RoadMate 9020

Magellan quietly revealed RoadMate 9020 recently – a GPS navigation system with an unnecessarily large 7″ WVGA touchscreen and a battery life of 30 minutes (no seriously; that’s what specs say). It runs on a 533Mhz processor, supports microSD cards, and has a USB 2.0 port.
Some of it’s features include free lifetime traffic updates, highway lane assist, built-in AAA TourBook, text-to-speech, multi-destination routing. It comes with maps of United States, Canada and Puerto Rico pre-installed.
Magellan RoadMate 9020 is priced at $270.

MiTAC extends contract with Tele Atlas

Tele Atlas, one of the leading digital map makers in the world, and MiTAC, parent company of Mio, Navman, partially Magellan branded products just recently announced extension of their partnership to continue using Tele Atlas maps in their personal navigation devices.
The deal includes Tele Atlas’ navigable map data for over 100 countries, 32 million kilometers of roads and more than 26 million of points of interest (POIs), as well as map enhancement products such as 3D Landmarks and Voice Maps.

Magellan RoadMate 3065 Commuter

Magellan is trying to convince people that they need a GPS navigation system even when they’re just commuting. Their flagship model is the new Magellan RoadMate 3065 Commuter which we’ve been following at Navigadget (here and here).
Magellan RoadMate 3065 Commuter has a relatively large 4.7″ screen which has features like traffic wakeup, lifetime traffic alerts, highway lane assist, OneTouch favorites, AAA TourBook, periodic reporting and Bluetooth.
Traffic Wakeup is when Magellan RoadMate 3065 Commuter will wake itself up 30 minutes before your commute to start gathering traffic information. When you’re ready get the heck out of work your GPS navigation system is already loaded with the latest traffic alerts and ready with the optimal route for your commute.
The MSRP is $200 but you can pick it up on Amazon for about $170 though.

new Magellan eXplorists are out

Magellan just updated their eXplorist lineup with three new models. These are Magellan eXplorist 510, Magellan eXplorist 610, and Magellan eXplorist 710.
First off, all three new eXplorists come with a 3″ color touch screen, 3.2MP camera with auto focus, mic, speaker to mark waypoints not only with a dot on a map but also include a photo, some audio, or even some video. It’s like geotagging on steroids.
All of the devices come with preloaded maps which include road network for the U.S., Canada, Western Europe and Australia, as well as water features, urban and rural land use, and a realistic shaded relief background. 510, 610, and 710 are all IPX7 waterproof, offer 16 hours of battery life, a digital almanac, and track summary and area calculation feature.

As far as differences between these three models:
- Magellan eXplorist 510 ($350): base model
- Magellan eXplorist 610 ($450): add 3-axis electronic compass and a barometric altimeter
