new GlobalSat GH-625XT GPS training watch

At CES 2011 we got to see the new GlobalSat GH-625XT GPS sports training watch. This new device integrates a SiRF Star IV GPS receiver, and uses a new higher capacity battery that gets at least 10 hours with 3D fix, GPS on, HBM, and backlight on. It comes with a heart rate monitor sensor, can calculate calories, and has an IPX7 waterproof design. Other features include ability to track back, and route navigation.

GlobalSat GH-625XT can store 100 waypoints, 120000 tracking points, and weighs 95 grams.

GlobalSat GS-TRAQ

GlobalSat just got the green light from FCC to bring their new live GPS tracking system into the U.S. It is called GlobalSat GS-TRAQ TR-203 and it works with a SIM card you can install yourself. The front side has several LEDs indicating power status, GPS fix status, and GSM status. It also has an emergency button.

It has a built in data logging feature to store up to 150K positions, voice monitoring feature, and a geo-fence function. GlobalSat has even created tracking web interface where you can register your device and follow its location on a map.

We’re not sure who’s selling this just yet but it looks quite similar to Qstarz’s QTracker.

We’ll be sure to let you know when either of these start selling at a retailer.

Globalsat GPS Director: GD-101

globalsat-gps-director
Globalsat has a new product out called the GPS Director. It is one of those basic GPS navigation systems that can point you to your car in big parking lot, or to the trail head when you’re on a hike (similar items: intelligent digital compass, Nolan Olympic GuideMate, Bushnell BackTrack) . We’re sure you can find many other uses for the GPS Director.

This one uses two AAA batteries, which will last up to 18 hours but this extended further with the power saving mode. It has a backlight, battery level indicator, ability to store 5 destination points, and even time zone setting and date and time display.

It measures 60x60x28mm, weighs 45 grams, and uses a 96×65 dot matrix display. The GPS receiver inside is can track 48 satellites at once and is sensitive for signals as low as -161dBm in strength. Does not seem to be available just yet. Stay tuned.

GTV-580 sat nav with digital TV

GTV-580 is the latest GPS navigation system from GlobalSat. It has all the usual stuff such as the SD memory expansion slot, basic multimedia features (WMA and JPG support), and the 4 hour battery life.

In addition to the basic stuff GTV-580 also has higher end features such as the spacious 5″ screen with 480×272 (WQVGA) resolution, bluetooth hands free connectivity to pair up with compatible phones, which includes services such as auto-reply mode, phonebook download, and music playback.

The other biggest features that sets this GPS navigation system different from the rest is its digital TV receiver so you can watch various TV shows on your device (hopefully when you’re not driving).

Some of the digital TV specs are as follows:

  • Build-in EPG Functions
  • Supports MTS and Subtitle (Based on Region)
  • Supports Auto Scan/ Manual Scan mode
  • AV-OUT function

We don’t when or from where you can pick up the GTV-580 yet but we’ll be sure to let you know once we find out.

GTV-380 is the new GPS navigation system from GlobalSat with a DVB-T antenna so you can watch digitally broadcast channels (if any :).

It has a 4.3″ bright touch screen with 480×272 resolution is definitely big enough to watch TV on, and internal built-in speakers in addition to the earphone jack. The Li-Ion battery with 2200mAh capacity can last up to 5 hours but we’re not sure if that’s based on navigating or watching TV.

GTV-380 runs WinCE.NET 5.0 on a Samsung processor, uses SiRFStarIII GPS receiver, comes with 64MB RAM but has an SD/MMC slot for maps and memory expansion.

The device is also bluetooth capable for hands free calls, and has support for various multimedia files.

We don’t think this is available in North America yet but it were to come here with the right software and UI it would be good competitor to big brand names.

globalsat bluetooth GPS receiver: BT-368

gsat-bluetooth-1.jpg
We came across one of the best looking bluetooth GPS receivers at CES 2008 yesterday. It is from GlobalSat and it is called BT-368.

BT-368 has a super slim design that would make your iPhone jealous but I’m sure they would work great together if you could pair up the two together.

This bluetooth GPS receiver can run for 10 hours under continuous operation thanks to its power saving technology. It uses the SiRF StarIII receiver chipset and of course bluetooth v2.0 interface. You’ll find three little LEDs on the front for bluetooth, GPS, and power stage.

It is WAAS/EGNOS supported and RoHS compliant says the spec sheet. No info on pricing just yet.

UPDATE: GlobalSat BT-368i Bluetooth GPS Receiver can be purchased from Buy GPS Now for roughly $60.

new GV-366 from GlobalSat

gv-366-globalsat-001.jpg
GlobalSat has a new GPS navigation system called the GV-366. From the specs we can see that it is going to be an entry level system featuring a 3.5″ touch screen. Nonetheless GV-366 uses better hardware for the things that matter more – such as the SiRF Star III GPS receiver, navigation software from Navigon and a 1400mAh rechargeable Li-Ion battery.

Navigon’s navigation software is able to render maps in 2D and 3D, give quick access important POI’s such as restaurants, gas stations, parking lots in few seconds, and provide voice guidance in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Danish, Dutch, Flemish, Finnish, Polish, Norwegian, Swedish, Hungarian, Greek, Russian and Turkish.

We’re not sure which retailers will pick this up in North America or Europe but we’ll be sure to let you know when it is for sale. We bet it is going to be sub $200.

globalsat-340.jpg
GlobalSat brought a new, slim GPS navigation system to the CES 2007, however they haven’t even named the device yet.

It has a solid, thin body and a very simple design that has only two buttons on the front, an SD card slot on the left. Not sure when it’ll be available or how much it will cost.

We’ll update you as soon as we have more info.
