Cydle T43 GPS navigation systems

cydle-t43
Cydle was a brand new name for us in the GPS navigation system market at CES 2009.

Their new model (and only) T43 features a 4.3″ touchscreen and the latest version Cydle 3D Map and Cydle XE Map. It can get traffic updates from TMC HD radio which they claim is 10 times faster than getting the data with traditional RDS TMC. While you’re at HD radio channels you can tune into other HD radio channels which should provide you with digital sound quality. It also can pair up with your bluetooth enabled phone so you can take and make calls from using the touchscreen interface of your GPS navigation system.

We’re not sure how soon you’ll see Cydle T43 at your local Best Buy shelves. If you do see it though, please let us know as well.

kenwood-dnx9140
Kenwood DNX9140 was a new addition to Kenwood‘s In-Dash DVD Receiver series with built-in Garmin GPS navigation. We had a chance to take a few shots of DNX9140 and see it in action at the show but we’d much prefer to see it in our dashboard when leaving CES 2009.

This double-DIN DVD receiver from Kenwood has some impressive features including:

  • 6.95″ WVGA touchscreen control screen
  • Garmin navigation software
  • voice recognition control for navigation and other connected sources

  • true 5.1 surround-sound
  • USB direct control for iPod A/V content

Palm Pre GPS navigation

palm-pre-gps-navigation
Palm just recently released some more information about their new touchscreen Palm Pre which they unveiled a few days ago at CES 2009. As we expected GPS navigation will not be free on Palm Pre. This is from their press release:

GPS requires data services at additional cost. Coverage not available in all areas at all times.

However we do know the navigation software will be “Sprint Navigation” which actually powered by TeleNav. Sprint Navigation charges $2.99 per day, or $9.99 per month.

posimotion G-Fi and G-Fi VS

posimotion-g-fi
Posimotion only had a two page website when we talked about their G-Fi for iPhone back in March. Now its January, they have a new product called G-Fi VS, a complete more informative website and impressive booth at CES 2009 where we had a short chat with them.

In addition to their G-Fi for iPhone; which is a mobile GPS network router, they were showcasing G-Fi VS; a complete wireless gaming hub for iPod Touch, iPhone and iPhone 3G…

CoPilot Live works on iPhone

copilot-live-iphone-3g
CoPilot Live from Alk also (just like for T-Mobile G1) works quite well on iPhone 3G. We asked them if Apple would let them put this navigation software in iTunes App store and they didn’t have much info when that would happen. As you know Apple still does not allow for any GPS navigation application with directions.

Come on Apple, let people sell their software for the iPhone. You’re still getting a huge 30% cut anyways.

Here is our video:

Alk’s CoPilot Live T-Mobile G1

We had a chance to stop by Alk’s booth at CES 2009 today and saw their CoPilot Live navigation software running smoothly on T-Mobile G1. We didn’t really have a chance to get our hands on it but David from marketing promised us it wasn’t just a flash demo and was the real thing running.

CoPilot for T-Mobile’s G1 supports portrait and landscape modes, does automatic GPS setup, supports the hi-res display of G1, provides fluid touch screen interface, and does 3D and 2D map views.

They also have their navigation software running on iPhone but that’s for another article.

JVC KW-NT1 Navigation

kw-nt1-jvc
JVC Mobile Entertainment just added the KW-NT1 in-dash navigation system to their 2009 lineup.

We’re not really impressed with JVC’s choice of model names but KW-NT1 does impress with some of its features: It has text-to-speech, 6.1-inch detachable faceplate for extra security, built in Bluetooth, USB, AV-input, SD card slot for MP3 audio playback is also integrated.

KW-NT1 does support the iPod and iPhone and allows you to control these devices with on-screen prompts. Also the blutooth feature connects to your compatible phone and lets you receive text message notifications on the screen.

JVC’s database include 6 million POIs, their maps cover United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.

You can expect KW-NT1 to be available in March for $1100.
