myguide GPS camera m.icatcher
Sep 3, 2008 gps navigation, myguide

Called m.icatcher this is the point-and-shoot camera with embedded GPS from MyGuide. It targets the ever growing market of photo tagging. Each time you snap a photo this camera instantly adds the location where the picture was taken to the JPG file.
Unlike existing GPS solutions the camera does not suffer from cold starts. The GPS signal is simply captured at the instant the shutter is triggered. And when you transfer your pics to the PC the power consuming processing part is done on your PC therefore the GPS feature only has a low power demand. So you don’t have to worry about GPS chip draining your battery or having to wait minutes before you can take a picture.
All we know is that MyGuide m.iCatcher was on display at IFA 2008 last week and will be available in Europe pretty soon.
m.imove 3218 and m.imove 4228
Apr 16, 2008 gps navigation, myguide

MyGuide seems to be revamping their product line these days. After M.i.motion3318, M.i.motion4328 and M.i.more4338, the two new additions to their entry level GPS navigation systems are the m.imove 3218 and m.imove 4228.
m.imove 3218 is the smaller of the two with a 3.5″ screen. m.imove 4228 boasts a 4.3″ screen and a stronger 1450mAh battery as opposed to 1050mAh.
The rest of the of features are identical. Both have text-to-speech function, come with 2.1 million points of interests, can show elevations in 3D, and have lane assistance. As far as hardware and OS nothing too exciting: 372Mhz CPU, 512 MB Flash Memory, 64 MB RAM, 30 channel GPS and Windows CE 5.0.
The navigation software is the latest MyGuide 8.0 and in addition to advanced 3D renderings it also can warn the user when above the posted speed limit. There’s also the SDVC: volume of voice instructions will increase/decrease depending on speed of car.
We’re not sure where you can pick one up though. MyGuide seems to be popular in Eastern Europe more than anywhere else.
M.i.motion3318, M.i.motion4328 and M.i.more4338
Mar 31, 2008 gps navigation, myguide

MyGuide just recently announced three new GPS navigation systems with names that are as difficult to say as they are to spell. The three new models are M.i.motion3318, M.i.motion4328 and M.i.more4338.
The highlight of the new product line is M.i.more4338 which offers integrated WiFi so you can connect to the internet when you’re say at a coffee shop parking lot.
Other new feature is the integrated TMC module which is standard with the M.i.motion4328 and M.i.more4338. What they call new here is the TMC antenna that is embedded in the car charger. Other brands figured this out a while ago but we guess later is better than never.
Another new feature they’re advertising is the Outlook contact download which lets you synchronize your contacts with your GPS navigation device. We see no use in this but the story may be different for a real estate agent who clients are mostly businessmen.
While all three provide hands free bluetooth, and text-to-speech, M.i.motion 3318 lacks audio player and picture viewer.
Here are the specs for M.i.more4338:
- Navigate from door-to-door in your region in 24 languages with the new navigation software MyGuide 8.0
- Li-Ion 2200 mAH Battery (4 h navigation Lifetime)
- 400 MHz CPU
- 2 GB Flash Memory, 128 MB RAM
- Maximal 30 channel GPS
- Operating system: Windows® CE 5.0
M.i.motion3318 has a 3.5″ and is planned to launch mid May 2008. M.i.motion4328 has a 4.3″ screen and will be out by the end of May. M.i.more4338 also has a 4.3″ screen and that will be out as soon as mid June.

MyGuide SilverGuide 5000 satellite navigation review
Aug 1, 2006 gps navigation, myguide, reviews

PCW of the UK released a review of MyGuide Silver Guide 5000, which recently hit the European markets, hoping to get some market share using its low price advantage. The article did not talk much about the its nicely built hardware but they were a little stuck on operating the software.
For example, tap ‘align screen’ and the instructions slip into German. Ask it to show you the closest petrol stations, and it presents the list by oil company, not nearest to your current position.
For that reason they gave the MyGuide SilverGuide 5000 a thumbs down which we think was a little to harsh. Hopefully people at MyGuide will release a software to take care of these software issues.
