After a loooooong wait, Garmin and Asus has finally made the Garmin-Asus nüvifone G60 available in Asia. (more precisely Taiwan on July 27; Singapore and Malaysia end of August.)
We still don’t have any details on the pricing but their press release say this:
In Asia, it will be available through carriers and retail channels. The nüvifone G60 is on schedule for delivery in Europe and the United States in the second half of 2009, and additional details about pricing, availability and carriers will be announced in the coming months
After all this wait how much would you be willing to pay for this phone?

Asus P835 includes A-GPS receiver
Mar 8, 2009 asus, gps navigation
Asus just recently announced their new Windows PDA phone P835. Apparently it is designed for “business-savvy professionals” but we don’t see why a teenage girl wouldn’t use this. It has a big 3.5″ screen for those YouTube vidoes, a fast internet connection for instant Facebook status updates and uploading pics and videos you can shoot with the 5MP auto focus camera and 4GB of internal memory for some music.
But most important of it all is the ability switch between 12-key, half-Qwerty and full-Qwerty virtual keyboard modes, for fastest texting ever!
All that’s great but the A-GPS receiver makes it even better. ASUS however did not release any information about what kind of GPS navigation application would be pre-installed on this. But since the OS is Microsoft Windows® Mobile 6.1™ Professional you can install whatever you want for your navigation needs.
Other specs include 1100mAh lithium battery, Qualcomm 7201A 528MHz processor, 288MB RAM, microSD card slot, and Wi-Fi and bluetooth.

nuviphone G60: everything you need to know
Feb 4, 2009 asus, garmin, gps navigation, phones
Here is some background info: We first talked about the nuviphone just about a year ago. By February 2008 we saw first nuviphone videos. By May that year we were almost sure it would come out before the holiday season. We were wrong. Then we thought there was a ‘white nuviphone‘ too. That turned out to be a photoshop job :)
By June 2008 we knew Asus would be involved with the manufacturing – and we also enjoyed some live videos. We knew something was up by July – rumors started about not seeing the device until ealy 2009. By October that was no longer a rumor. Then came December. Just as we were forgetting about nuviphone, some FCC documents gave us hope. This is when we first heard of the G60 model name.
That brings us to February 2009. Just today, Garmin, along with Asus announced their strategic alliance and rebranded the unreleased nuviphone to be known as Garmin-Asus Nuviphone G60. No technical details are revealed but they at least included some nice PR pics – all of which are included here. Oh, and the release date? Still first of half of 2009 as they mention on their brand new site garminasus.com.
Their new alliance is ready to reveal nuviphone G60 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (Feb 16-19) and also they say they will be announcing several nuviphone models in 2009.
There are rumors about G60 still using its Linux based OS, but the upcoming devices from nuviphone series may switch to Windows Mobile.
Here are the features of nuviphone G60 – binned into three categories:

asus r710 hud demo
Aug 3, 2008 asus, gps navigation
Asus R710 with heads up display (HUD) was announced on Navigadget a while ago but we were left wondering what it actually looked like on a windshield.
Now we have a video of Asus R710 with HUD doing a demo at some trade show.
The HUD (Heads Up Display) projects navigation instructions that include directions, speed etc. on the windshield in front of the driver. This not only helps users focus on the roads ahead, it also prevents users to be distracted by the device itself – hugely improving car safety.
Asus R50A finally here
Jul 30, 2008 asus, gps navigation, umpc

Asus R50A which we undiscovered at CES at the beginning of this year has finally hit U.S. shores. The device just got its FCC approval meaning it will be available to American consumers very soon.
It looks like the initial specs we posted are still valid including the integrated GPS receiver.
