new GPS satellite going up into orbit

GPSIIR-21If you’re worried about your GPS signal going weak – worry no more. Lockheed Martin is on top of things and they’re planning on launching a Delta II rocket on August 17th to put the new GPS IIR-21 into orbit. If you live in Florida make sure you look up to see if you can catch this.

“Through effective collaboration and a joint commitment to successful execution, the GPS IIR program has significantly improved our nation’s position, navigation and timing capabilities, and we look forward to enhancing the GPS constellation with this last IIR-M satellite.”… said Col. Dave Madden, the U.S. Air Force GPS Wing Commander.

We sure hope the launch goes well… via
