The Gorilla GPS navigation system from Sanyo must be big in Japan since they keep coming out with new models.
Their latest devices are fitted with SSDs (solid state disk) and feature displays ranging from 7″ (NV-SD730DT) to 5.2″ (NV-SB450DT and NV-SB530DT). Some of the features of the new models include LED baclight, 8GB SSD, VICS traffic updates, 1 Seg TV tuner, and the Eco Mode which tries to keep you at a speed optimal for fuel efficiency… via

Actually, Gorilla just came out with 4 or so new models because the previous few models were notorious for telling people to turn *after* the intersection had passed. I think the other features are simply coincidental in competing with other brands.
Of the brands I’ve seen here in Japan, Gorilla is among the most expensive, but the features are typically worth the price difference. For example, having a larger screen also reduces the need to look too closely at the GPS unit, making for safer driving.
Now that the “turn too late” flaw is supposedly fixed, I’m about to buy a new Gorilla model (NV-SB360DT).
