HG400 heads up display
Apr 5, 2009 gps navigation

The HG-100 heads up display is finding its way into western hemisphere under different names with a few changes. AutoSport is offering this GPS enabled heads up display as HG400 for $150. HG400 gives you compass heading and speed readings while you drive by projecting the information onto your windshield so you can keep your eyes on the road ahead. You can see your speed in MPH or KPH, and even set a speed alert to warn you when you’re going too fast. It also has bluetooth antenna so you can hook it up to your PC or a PDA to get navigation functionality on those devices.

So how is this different then the -100 series that we saw a few years ago? I really like the idea of this type of unit. A HUD powered by GPS could be a great market. I think some of the high end cars are just getting the gps added to the HUD now.

You can already do that with your gps unit, just lay it flat on the dashboard at night, reflect it off the windshield. Someone is already selling a HUD.app for the ipod/iphone, it shows alot more data than this thing.

Ohh, I forgot to say, we need to contact every gps maker to demand a ‘mirror image’ of the display so it will look right on the windshield.
