MEDION GoPal P5430
Published on November 27th, 2008 in gps navigation
Medion continues to work on their market share in Europe by releasing bunch of new GPS navigation systems. The latest is MEDION GoPal P5430.
With the new GoPal P5430 Medion is emphasizing the extra large screen that measures 5″ diagonally. The rest of the features are also medium to high end. There’s even a finger print sensor. It uses the SiRF InstantFix II GPS receiver which reduces the time to first fix by guessing where those satellites might be.
MEDION GoPal P5430 comes with maps Western and Eastern Europe; provided by Navteq, and an integrated TMC traffic antenna to help you stay out the mess. Other features include:
- Avoid traffic jams with traffic Master
- Voice control
- High performance SiRF Titan 600 Mhz processor
- Text-to-Speech for precise traffic guidance
- Pre-loaded safety camera locations
- Lane and Speed advisor
- 3 GB memory
It goes for about 175£ or 200 €…

- Medion GoPal 210 for 99GBP - or a bit more
- Medion GoPal PNA 410 released
- Medion P4425 with finger print scanner
- Medion GoPal P4425 reads your fingerprint
Does anybody know why this has been withdrawn from sale by ALdi.
It is supposed to be on special buy on Sunday 30th Nov.
Good question. I’m looking for the same thing.

I spoke to the local ALDI staff today when I went to get a unit, It has been withdrawn due to a faulty power switch on some units, Medion did not want to launch the product until this has been rectified. There is no date at this time for re-launch.
I thought that the Aldi web site could have put this on the web site instead of the error 404 code that has been showing, to save people making trips to stores and finding that it was not on sale.

I asked Medion about the problem and this is what I got back “I can confirm there is no fault with the power switch on the unit in question. I am sorry to say unable to say when the release date will now be or why it was pushed back in the first place but we expect to be in Aldi stores before the end of the year. “

Medion don’t seem to know anything about why ALDI have withdrawn it. ALDI don’t appear to have an email address so I guess we’ll never find out what their story is. All I know is that the advert was pulled before the date the offer was supposed to start. They couldn’t have sold out as they wouldn’t have reached their stores but I wonder if someone spotted the ad & has bought their stock as a job lot?
They have been on sale in Aldi stores across Europe.
I am expecting a call back from Aldi on Monday so hopefully I might be able to find out something about why they are not sold here. I think that Medion should make it their business to find out.So much for customer srvice.

I think it is time for people to boycott Aldi. The prices are not that special anymore. Most stores now have reduced prices considerably in competition and Aldi prices seem to be creeping up. The specials which once were good deals are now not much different from other stores.Aldi treat their customers with contempt and thats how we should treat them.I will not be shopping there again. One of the most important things about any business is its customer service and Aldi have none.
We work too hard for our money to give it to a business who have no regard for customers i.e Aldi and Medion among others. So show them we will not tolerate such incompetence by taking our business elsewhere.
