qigi i6
Nov 28, 2008 android, gps navigation, gps phones

With a name that reminds us the horrible J Lo movie ‘Gigli’ you wouldn’t expect a lot from Qigi I6, but don’t be so quick to judge this device like we did. Qigi is quite flexible. It can run Windows Mobile 6.1 or Android OS. However it isn’t “dual OS” like our source mentions, it just comes in two different versions.
The Chinese manufacturer calls the Windows version i6 Win and the Android version i6 Goal. That seems to be the only difference since the rest of the features seems identical as both versions have:
- integrated GPS
- Marvell Monohans 624MHz processor
- 2.8-inch 65k color LCD touchscreen
- 2 Megapixel camera
- WiFi
- Bluetooth
- microSD card slot
We love that integrated GPS up there but it is a bit heartbreaking to hear that 3G was omitted from the Qigi I6 phones.

Nokia just introduced the Nokia 6260 slide. The looks of Nokia 6260 is not that interesting but as far as connectivity and features it is packed. 6260 comes with A-GPS receiver and Nokia Maps navigation software installed.
Nokia 6260 is obviously not targeted towards the business user as they like to promote it as:

The Nokia 6260 slide brings GPS into the Series 40 software platform for the first time, really signifying navigation arriving in the mass market.

Nov 25, 2008 gps navigation

We just talked about Eclipse AVN4430 and Eclipse AVN726E but we thought the Eclipse AVN726E deserves its own post since it also is a “Innovations 2009 Design And Engineering Award Honoree”
The AVN726E, essentially a next generation of AVN, provides “full-on in-vehicle entertainment” and achieves superior image quality with pure digital video circuitry, improved audio performance with lowered distortion using premium parts as well as memory-based navigation, creating a next generation AVN unit.
Eclipse AVN726E has a 7″ screen and also provides GPS navigation but not detachable like the AVN4430. The specs are not yet revealed for Eclipse AVN726E.

Eclipse AVN4430
Nov 25, 2008 CES 2009, fujitsu, gps navigation, tomtom

We’ve mentioned the AVN2210P numerous times here on Navigadget but we got the news that TomTom and Fujitsu Ten are getting together once again to release Eclipse AVN4430.
Along with AVN726E, Eclipse AVN4430 will be named the “2009 Design and Engineering Award Honorees” at the CES 2009 in Vegas. Keep in mind two years ago AVN2210p was rewarded the same title.
The “AVN” abbreviation stands for “audio visual navigation” and as far as specs all we know is that:
The AVN4430 is a secure dash-mount audio/visual/navigation system with portability, has a TomTom PND integrated with ECLIPSE superior sound & visual quality and offers exclusive benefits with co-branded technologies.
However just looking at the press photo we see that AVN4430 has a detachable 4.3″ TomTom GPS navigation system, and bluetooth connectivity.
Stay tuned for more specs…
