After trying a lot of apps for the iPhone for “speed camera” detection, I never was fully satisfied until i ran into an little gem called ‘QFlits’. This app doesn’t use the GPS or anything, but simply gathers info from websites that post the current speed traps along the road. (Here in Europe a lot of radio stations broadcast this info). It’s amazingly effective how you can just check whether there are speed traps on your way to work, the moment you get in your car. Of course it doesn’t include the fixed cams, but you know where they are anyway (and i allready have 3 apps that have them too, including cams ahoy :)
