Magellan Maestro 4370
Oct 21, 2008 gps navigation, magellan

Magellan Maestro 4370 which we first mentioned at the beginning of this year has shown up recently on Magellan’s website. It is priced at $600 making it their most expensive GPS navigation unit.
Looking at the features we can’t quite tell why it is so expensive. It has a 4.3″ screen, text-to-speech, bluetooth, FM transmitter, traffic receiver, and maps for the 50 states, Canada, and Puerto Rico, and lane assistance.
I guess thinking about it, it has almost the same features as the Garmin Nuvi 765T which is also priced at $600.
What do you think?

Magellan’s website says that the 4370 is $499 NOT $600.

I am trying to figure out how many receiving channels does 4370 has and no one can tell me for sure…. Best Buy says it’s 1, Magellan’s tech suppoprt says it’s 30….

Well, it’s definitely not one, GPS systems need a minimum of three to work, and none available now as that few; the lowest I’ve seen on a mainstream unit is 12. For a high end unit, 30 is likely.

I Own a 4250 and purchased the 4370. Love the 4370 which has new and needed enhancements over the 4250. Better images, on screen controls provided. Voice help is more detailed/helpful. I really like the unit but its weakness is the menu system. You cannot always get to a menu and some of the good options are buried too deep. The unit is great, but the menu designer team should have tried using it before releasing it for production.

Have a 4250 and 5310, bought the 4370 after reading the spec’s and improvements. Immediately found that the Satellite to Map for my Home address is off by 85 feet. The address showing on the screen when in the driveway or out front shows an address numbering 6 houses East of my house. Street numbers shown Do Not exist on my street. Magellan Tech Support not very helpful, but willing to refer problem to mapping vendor Navteq. Found that a Firmware/Software update was available and I updated system. Result no change. Good news is the other 2 units work fine and show correct information.
