track your athlete with GPS

GTX Corp and myathlete today officially announced gpVector and it is expected to ship early 2009.

Before you ask gpVector is a tracking platform for athletes which offers the shown device worn by the racer (even if they’re in the water) and transmits their location determined by the GPS technology onboard via wireless carrier networks every minute they are on the course – which in English means you’ll able to track your loved one from the comfort of your house while he/she tortures themselves running the last 20 miles of an ultra-marathon. They don’t need your support anyways.

Offered by myatlete this device will cost $350 plus monthly fee for purchase but you’ll also be able to rent it for your event:

  • $20 – Half Marathons
  • $30 – Marathons & Half Ironman Triathlons
  • $40 – Ultra-Marathons & Adventure Races
  • $50 – Ironman Triathlons, Ultra-Ultra Marathons and multi-day events
