Portable GPS Tracker For Kids: GP2018
Sep 17, 2008 gps navigation, tracking

If you’re really worried about how to track and trace your kids (and even pets) in everyday life or just during emergencies then WorthPal may have the right product for you. WorthPal is one of those Chinese companies that focus on GPS tracking devices that hope to export their devices to U.S. one day. One of those products is the GP2018 which is a real time GPS tracking device with a GSM module.
The gadget has DIY Tracking which works with E-world SMS modem to watch the position and trace of the target on the map real-time automatically. This track and trace is done without monthly fee (we doubt it though) and manual input. It supports all navigation digital maps and also Google earth. GP2018 can send an emergency alarm or make a phone call to the pre-configured cell-phone number and geo-fencing can be used to restrict movement to a defined radius.
Main features
- Build-in GPS personal locator with GPS SiRF-Star III chipset
- GSM /SMS communication
- GPRS TCP/UDP connection.
- Support 4-frequency GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHZ
- Built-in lithium battery with battery life up to 18 hours continuously or 7 days if an external battery pack is used

When I was 4 years old, I really needed such a device, because I was hyperactive, and prone to wander. I have a Zoombak, which is on my bike. I purchased the Zoombak after losing 18 bikes to theft, 8 in San Francisco alone. With this device, I could find out if the thief took my bike to a pawnshop, a vacant lot, or some other location either for personal use or to sell to support an addiction. Of all the bikes that were stolen, 16 were reported to police. All except one have my name, phone number, and ID number engraved on the top tube. One has my social security number engraved.
