TomTom GO 940 LIVE

GO 940 Live is the new high end, internet connected GPS navigation system from TomTom. It is already announced right before electronics show in Berlin, along with GO 740 Live, and GO 540 Live.

TomTom GO 940 LIVE comes with a new and version of TomTom’s IQ Routes feature which provides navigation guidance based on historical travel time information for every road, specified for every day of the week, at five minute intervals.

TomTom GO 940 LIVE also connects to TomTom’s HD Traffic service for live traffic information. It will first be available in the Netherlands, UK, Germany, France and Switzerland. The trick with this service is that if the measured traffic conditions differ from the expected traffic flow, TomTom GO 940 LIVE will automatically calculate an alternate route, if available.

Another ground breaking feature for the new TomTom 940 Live is the local search with Google. This way you’re not limited to several million outdated POI’s in device’s memory. You can also control the device with voice, so no more fiddling with the touch screen.

There’s of course a subscription fee for all this connectivity which is announced to be £9.95/month. TomTom 940 GO Live is expected to cost about £470 including taxes.

Here are some specs on the device:

  • 4.3″ widescreen 16:9 format LCD (WQVGA: 480*272 pixels)
  • CPU 400 MHz
  • TomTom GO 940 LIVE: 4 GB internal flash memory, TomTom GO 540/740 LIVE: 1-2 GB
  • SD card socket
  • High sensitivity GPS receiver
  • Bluetooth
  • Battery lithium-polymer (up to 5 hours operation)
  • Dimensions: 118 mm x 83 mm x 24 mm
  • Weight: 220 grams

So Ronilo OBVIOUSLY its not in a store in Fairfield, CT and NOOO Richard you can’t order it in Cincinnati, Ohio or anywhere else in the US…WAKE UP PEOPLE and use some common sense!!…nice device though!!

    Are YOU serious, Robert Wilson?
If YOU read the article, it CLEARLY states, “It will FIRST be available in the Netherlands, UK, Germany, France and Switzerland”.
So, it is NOT OBVIOUS that it is not available in the U.S., nor is it obvious that it is not available in Cincinnati, OH!!!!
YOU are the one who cannot read!
“FIRST” implies that it WILL be available elsewhere. Just AFTER it is available in the other places. It HAS BEEN available in Europe for some time now. So, it stands to reason that it should be available elsewhere.

HOWEVER, until TomTom gets their crap together, and makes their HOME application and TomTom.Com work CORRECTLY, and UNTIL phones are available that allow us to actually USE the LIVE services, then, it doesn’t matter if it is EVER available. Why? Because TomTom is selling us all this “wonderful” crap, and it is totally WORTHLESS, unless you just NEED a new paperweight!

RUN! Don’t walks… RUN! away from TomTom until they show a commitment to servicing the United States, and not just catering to Europe!!!

Oh, TomTom DISCONTINUED the TRAFFIC service that I PAID EXTRA to get on my 920T (T is for Traffic). They did not tell anyone. I have spent MONTHS trying to get it to work. LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF HOURS! Only to find out… OH, We discontinued that network. We will send you a new antenna for our NEW network. BUT, you must locate your ORIGINAL SALES RECEIPT and send it to us!!!

    That is just B.S.!!!

Like buying an HD cable box from time warner, then they decide not to broadcast anything in HD anymore!
