the new MG-950D from Mainnav
Published on August 22nd, 2008 in fitness, gps navigation, tracking
Mainnav MG-950d has changed its design since we last talked about it. Compared to older MG-950D current design is more sturdy and best of it all it is smaller.
MG-950d is bluetooth GPS receiver combined with a small fitness computer. It is mostly designed for outdoor people who like to hike, ride their bike, etc. It can show information on your speed, elevation, trip time, total distance, average speed, max speed, and more. And unlike most other sports GPS gadgets Mainnav MG-950D can double as a bluetooth GPS receiver so you can pair it with your PDA phone, laptop, etc to turn them into a GPS navigation system provided you have the software for it.
It uses SiRF Star III GPS receiver which can lock a satellite with hot start in 6 seconds, warm start in 38 seconds, and cold start 42 seconds. There’s enough memory to store 120,000 waypoints.

Hi,
Seems good. But is it possible to get the speed in km/h ? is it Assisted-GPS (A-GPS) enabled ? Did any one try this with tomtom ot garmin XT on a windows mobile PDA ? Thanks
You could get the speed in Km/h and Mileage , it alwasy show on the top of screen. It did not have assisted-GPS. MG-950d is BT receiver too, so you could pair your PDA for navigation. Also it comes with bike mount , it’s very situable for biking
I found another website has MG-950d testing feedback.

Thank you for above shopping information, it’s really helpful.
I got the MG-950d few days ago. I have very good experience for my first bike trip. Large screen which could see the speed and time clear. I have record my tracks and showing my photo on Google earth , very interesting !! I suppose it could show Latitude and longitude on screen but it did not have.
Thanks for the feedback, Rich. Did the instant speed seem accurate ? And hat about the running distance ? Thanks
Hi Chris:
For MG-950d, I think the instant speed is accurate. It will show you whole trip time and Total Kilometer/milieage( ODO) you have rode . Last week I was rode on the river side , the length of toal riverside is 40KM , and my device show exactly 40KM.
I think only elevation is not so accurate . The other function is seems good.
