mcguider – sat nav maps and software on SD card

McGuider is a 2GB micro SD card that lets you turn your Windows Mobile or Symbian gadget into a complete navigation system. Even though their site says “No installation required” you can see a link to their “installation guide” right below that claim.

McGuider costs 66 € for North America or Western Europe but unfortunately they only ship around Europe. Included in the price is the micro SD card with maps from TeleAtlas, mini SD adapter, and a standard SD adapter.

As far as software features you’ve got the continuous zoom, itinerary planning, advanced sign data, automatic country info at border crossings, and lane guidance.

If you’ve used this before please let us know what you think…

I have been using this on an O2 Orbit 2 (HTC Touch Cruise) for around a month now. There are a few oddities with it but overall it is a very competant TomTom Navigator replacement, and very cheap too.
Support has been poor though, with TeleAtlas just telling me to speak to Sygic (who write the backend part of the program) and Sygic so far ignoring my requests for help.
I am currently creating an unoffical support site for the software, on which I hope to cover any of the issues people have with it as well as a simple user forum.
