I purchased a Garmin Oregon 400T. Primary use is geocaching. The unit is hit or miss at best. The compass is irratic and needs to be held flat. Be warned this is a 600.00 paper weight. I have gone back to my garmin etrex vista hcx. much more accurte unit.

The garmin oregon 400t is the best unit I have ever owned from Garmin, and I have had almost all of them, starting with the etrex legend. The colorado took several firmware updates to correct issues but my Oregon has functioned perfectly out of the box.
I don’t know what problems your having but mine has better than 20′ accuracy even with waas turned off. The compass is not needed for geocaching so your best bet is to turn it off.
The problem with purchasing from the above links is that they are not authorized sellers of Garmin so you may have warranty issues. You are not actually buying it from Amazon, your buying from one of their re-sellers.

This is one of the best GPS’s I have bought to date. I have used many of the garmin units, and I love this one. The accuracy (in Japan) doesn’t say it’s the best, but I have no problem finding geocaches. I ignore what my accuracy says, follow the compass and find it everytime. Well worth the money. Also, the compass doesn’t have any issues compared to the Colorado.
