econav; fuel saving GPS navigation system
Published on July 10th, 2008 in gps navigation
The recent rise in oil prices is making GPS navigation manufacturers come up with ways to save fuel. Spanish brand Econav have come up with a product that can do just that.
Eco friendly Econav works by suggesting the driver a route that if taken could show the user how much CO2 emissions would be saved from going into the atmosphere as well as how much fuel would be saved.
Even though the savings will ultimately depend on your driving habits here is what Econav says your savings would be:
- 15% reduction in average and up to a 30% reduction in fuel consumption in standard driving.
- 15% reduction in average and up to a 30% reduction in CO² emissions in standard driving.
As far as the specs on the GPS navigation system itself; the screen measures 4.3″, includes maps of Spain, Portugal, Andorra, offers bluetooth connectivity for hands free calling, warnings for speed limits, fixed radars, pedestrian crossings and more… via

Hmmm, not sure it would cut emmissions, Or does it mean it will take you on roads with a slower maximum speed?
No, I think the info is wrong. It says on their website that the gps tells you how to drive to save more fuel and Co2 emmisions, not a different route…
