Great chart, thanks!! And if you factor in unlimited text messaging, which is $20 more with AT&T the cost is $150 a month for the unlimited plan. So that’s a difference of $1,200 total over two years.
Mention the iPhone 3G cannot be tethered like the Instinct.
Is door-to-door navigation possible on the iPhone possible with future software?
You may want to include that info also if it is.
I hear tethering is possible with the old iphone. So could be a future improvement.
So looking ahead into the future perhaps iPhone is better for me.
But right now with tethering Instinct keeps giving me second thoughts.
I like the chart and would like to see additional things in it.
The plan details need to be shown so you can actually compare apples to apples.
Insting can indeed tether, it is a $20-$49 option and IS NOT included in the simply everything plan. I know for a fact that at least two people are working on iPhone tethering using the SDK but due to what it does will likely never be allowed to be put on the app store.
iPhones screen is bigger, displays more colors, and has a higher pixel count.
iPhone is an OS the Instinct isn’t
Instinct has TV,FM support
iPhone has WiFi(huge item here), IM
There is a lot more to list to do a fair comparison.
iphone is still in the top for me because of its originality. since iphone was released last year, new phones( like the instinct) were trying to mimic, or in other words try to be better than the iphones, but still, its number one.
Iphone has a larger screen
Has an OS
Faster(3g network)
and original, not a clone
what happens to the numbers if you add a second phone i.e family plan, for unlimited. I think At&t has a family plan, Sprint does not.
Sprint Instinct ends up being more expensive, since the cost would be $200 per month if you needed two phones.
I have to say I owned the older version of the Iphone and I will get the new iphone 3G as well. What I really hate the most out of the iphone is ATT network because sucks and doesnt care for its costumers. I love the Iphone but ATT is the worst team I ever have business with. I happen to be with them more than seven years, I was about to get rid of them but iphone came to be. Im now have a choice to get I new Iphone but they tend to punish their costumers by increasing the rate plans and sign another two year contract as well. Bottom line ATT sucks!!! Love the awesome iphone, I dont think you can get upgrades in software with the instict? Can you?
Maze is an idiot because EVDO REV A is faster than 3G and the fact that it is an original is a stupid reason to stick to the iphone because technology will continue to improve and i want to see his dumb ass stick to the iphone 3G for the rest of his life. Instinct shits on iphone. I have this feeling people get the apple iphone for its name rather than its features. just like the ipod. there are other devices that perform better than the iphone and ipod.
Well you save $790 over two years if you choose correctly with the Sprint Instinct. $790 is a lot of money! Think of all the text messages you could send with AT&T, that’s like 4,000 texts!
The Sprint Everything Plan is looking better and better.

I have been an Apple convert since 1984. I agree their software is the most cutting edge and use it every chance I get. I agree that the Iphone is just the computer I was looking for.
However, I was a Cingular customer for four years. There is no way in hell that I will ever go back to them. I have been a Sprint customer for four years now, and while their customer service is mediocre at best, at least I have never, ever been ripped off like I have with ATT/Cingular. Seriously, they have cost me hundreds of dollars which I could not contest despite over a year of arguing with them. Even their own engineering department told them that something funny was going on, but alas, I had to shell the bucks or get dinged on my credit.
So, Apple, I love ya, man. I think your phone is the best. Too bad you stuck with a loser service. When you get smart again, let me know, and I’ll give your phone a try.
Until then, I guess it’s the Instinct. Not a clone – an alternative.
I went to the AT&T store to upgrade my original iphone to 3G. After almost 2 hours of back & forth conversation with sales rep & AT&T customer service, i had to cancel the account. If it wasn’t for my love for the iphone, I would have cancelled AT&T last year due to bad connections, bad service, etc. So i am now seriously considering INSTINCT. does anyone know if i can load my itunes library to Instinct???
why is th Instinct being compared to th iphone. The instince is NOT A SMARTPHONE!!!! Know how to compare apples to apples. The instinct cant even come close to th iphone.
