pronav GPS navigation system for trucks
Published on May 16th, 2008 in gps navigation
We’re sure you’ve heard of stories of huge trucks trying to drive through tiny towns, or hitting overhead bridges because of blindly following their GPS navigation systems.
Pronav is here to fix those problems with maps and data designed for oversize vehicles. It considers your vehicle’s dimensions, as well as any legal or road network restrictions.

You actually enter your vehicle’s dimensions including; width, height, weight, weight per axle and length, as well the goods you are carrying (normal, corrosive/explosive) and ProNav will calculate a route optimized to your vehicles parameters and ensure you are not confronted with any restrictions that are not suitable for your vehicle or cargo.
In addition it can provide warning information such steep hills, sharp bends, and even crosswind areas.
The device is currently only available in the U.K. and comes with comprehensive database of London loading bays (including red route bays) which you can easily find around your destination and route directly to. Also included is a database of London cafes that serve breakfast for under £5, as well as a national database of HGV gas stations.
A nice final touch is that you can switch your ProNav into a regular GPS navigation system to provide you with regular street level navigation where you can’t go with your truck… via

Just purchased the Navevo ProNav from Maplins and have sent it straight back for a refund. Unit freezes constantly. Features are hard to use and require in depth menus. Routing can take 5 minutes and doesn’t like to route from a side road or from a building. Very poor software. Unable to add favourites (for regular routes). No traffic pack. Do not buy this early version, it’s very poor. (from a class 1 lorry driver of 24 years)

Apart from the probelms, it costs far to much, why oh why do manfacturers feel the need to rip us off all the time , give it a year and the price will tumble.

Hight wont set in inches… vehicle 13′6… choices are either 13′ or 13′10.. lol, not a lot of good…. Update was supposed to fix that but it doesnt.
Despite latest update it didnt have a clue to a new road section opened 6 months ago and tried to send me in the opsite direction when it picked up again….Dont bother with it until they sort these problems…

Paul, R Hayman, Steve, how did you feel that the unit worked with regard to routing a HGV around truck restrictions and what areas of the continent did you drive it? Thanks.

a complete waste of money ,does not contain maps of docks etc (garmin does) will not route when sat in yard off road, will not sync with vista, still tries to send my hgv done little roads that are weight limited . my advice buy a tomtom /garmin and use some common sense
