QStarz BT-Q818 eXtreme
Published on May 8th, 2008 in bluetooth, gps navigation
QStarz recently announced a new bluetooth GPS receiver which they claim is world’s most powerful. The specs on the BT-Q818 eXtreme is pretty impressive; such as the 51 channel MTK chipset, and the 32 hours of use time thanks to the low power consumption hardware. However what makes the difference is the adjustable update rate which can be somewhere between 1 and 5Hz. Hz is cycles per second so when you move it up to 5Hz you can get position updates 5 times every second making this suitable for application where timing is crucial.
We’ll let you know when BT-Q818 eXtreme becomes available at online retailers.

[...] QStarz has just announced the BT-Q818 eXtreme—the self-proclaimed world’s most powerful Bluetooth GPS receiver. The 51-channel chipset and 32 hours of use time are impressive, but it’s the adjustable update rate that’s their claim to fame. The user can choose between 1 and 5Hz updates, with each Hz good for one update per second. In other words, the QStarz eXtreme can sync your position an impressive five times a second, which should be more than enough to placate the most dedicated of car racers and anvil droppers. No word on price or release date at this time. [product via Navigadget] [...]
