Pioneer AVIC-F500BT almost here

Published on April 18th, 2008 in gps navigation

Pioneer AVIC-F500BT (aka NavGate 500) just made it through FCC, coming one step closer to being released in the U.S. This GPS navigation has one of the biggest screens as far as portable systems go; measuring a whopping a 5.8″.

In addition to providing door to door driving directions AVIC-F500BT can connect to almost anything in your vehicle. It has bluetooth to pair up with your phone, supports an optional TMC antenna, with the ND-BC2 addon you can also hook up a rear view camera. Of course it also connects to your factory radio and even can talk to your parking break, and reverse gear too (to turn on the camera…). With the appropriate cable (CD-IU200VM) you can also control your iPod from the AVIC-F500BT… via

  6. [...] The Pioneer F500 has finally received FCC’s approval to ship this GPS system to the States. The F500 features bluetooth for hands-free calling, an optional traffic antenna, and a ND-BC2 add-on to hook the unit on a rear view camera, and an SD card slot. No word on price or availability for this GPS system but it’s now available in Europe as the NavGate 500 for 699 Euros or $1100 which is on the pricey side. [Navigadget] [...]
