CSW steering wheel with driving instructions
Published on April 8th, 2008 in gps navigation
This hi-tech steering wheel from Takara is pretty much a computer that talks to the sensor in your vehicle. It can warn the driver about certain aspects of your car such as doors left open, low tire pressure etc. Another feature of the Takara steering wheel is coming from their collaboration with Navigon. Their solution - portable navigation integration - allows for key safety and navigation instructions via a 2-way communication between Navigon 7100 and CSW steering wheel. And thanks to already existing vehicle sensors Navigon 7100 can access vehicle information such as gyro, speed, etc too.
The idea behind Takata CSW steering wheel is to reduce driver distractions, display key navigation elements, and allow easy control of the navigation device.
We do not have any info on any major car makers adapting this technology just yet.

Everybody keeps saying that there’s no OEM plan for this, but it’s actually going to be used in the new BMW 1-series as an accessory. It was part of the European 1-series catalog.

Looks much nicer in the BMW steering wheel than the Chrysler 300!
