JVC KW-NX7000

JVC recently added the 7-inch, double-din KW-NX7000 Navigation/DVD/CD Receiver to its 2008 line-up. The unit’s faceplate is detachable and features a 7-inch low-reflection touch screen monitor. Also included in KW-NX7000 is a proximity sensor which illuminates the relevant keys when your hand approaches such as during navigation, DVD and movie playback to reduce distraction. Also now there’s a built-in memory so you can use other multimedia sources and navigate simultaneously.

Here are some other highlights:

  • built-in NAVTEQ traffic RDS tuner
  • over 12 Million Points of Interest
  • text-to-speech system and voice guidance in seven languages
  • headphone surround sound for Dolby Digital 5.1 content

The MSRP was recently announced to be $1300.

TomTom GO 930 and 730 now available in U.S.

TomTom just made the availability of the new TomTom GO 930 and GO 730 official for North America.

Here is how much these new models will cost you:

  • TomTom GO 930T: $550
  • TomTom GO 930: $500
  • TomTom GO 730T: $500
  • TomTom GO 730: $450

The main difference between the 930 and 730 is that 930 offers maps of United States, Canada and Europe, whereas 730 only has United States and Canada installed on its internal memory.

TomTom ONE 130

TomTom ONE 130 is the new entry level GPS navigation system from TomTom.

Unlike 130S it doesn’t have the text-to-speech but the rest of the specs are identical.

  • Connectivity: mini-USB, RDS-TMC (via mini-USB)

TomTom ONE 130S

TomTom’s other new addition to their lineup continues with TomTom ONE 130S. This one will cost you $250, have a 3.5″ screen, text-to-speech feature, and the new their selling point: the windshield mount that folds on to the device.

Again, ONE 130S, is supposed to be available as early mid May and will be preloaded with maps of U.S. and Canada.

TomTom XL 330

TomTom XL 330 is quite similar to XL 330S which we just mentioned. The only difference is that it lacks text-to-speech feature which can save you $50. Worth it?

Priced at $250 here are the rest of the features for TomTom XL 330:

TomTom XL 330S

TomTom today introduced a couple of new models for the XL series GPS navigation units, one of them being the new TomTom XL 330S. Priced at $300, XL 330s will have a 4.3″ touch screen, and have text-to-speech feature which can pronounce street names.

Expected to be available as early as this May, TomTom XL 330S has a renovated audio system that is louder than ever, and a new mount called EasyPort. What EasyPort does is that it folds on to your GPS navigation system while maintaining a small form factor so you don’t have a leave an empty mount on your windshield when you park your vehicle.

Asus P320

Asus P320 which we had announced back in March just made it to FCC. This means we can expect to see in the States as soon as this year.

The specs of Asus P320 are as follows:

GPS Tuner v5.4

GPS Tuner is an off-road navigation software for Pocket PC devices. Today they announced that they’re releasing v5.4 which adds a few nice extra features to the older version.

  • ‘Open Street Map’ has been added as online map source
  • ‘Google Topo (Terrain)’ has been added as online map source
  • Suunto X9i data format(.sdf) handling (Import and Export) has been added
  • Automatic map rotation in 90 degrees has been added (instead of flipping 180 degrees)
  • Built-in camera photo can be taken and added to waypoint directly
  • Waypoints can be exported via TXT output module

GPS Tuner Standard v5.4 cost $34 with one-year free upgrade. Without the free upgrade you can get it as cheap as $24. There’s also another version called GPS Tuner Geo v5.4 which adds area calculation as a feature and also one year of free upgrades: $48.

Suzuki SX4 now with Garmin GPS navigation system

Suzuki yesterday announced that they’ll be throwing a free GPS navigation system in one and every 2009 SX4 making the Garmin GPS navigation a standard equipment for a sub $16000 vehicle for the first time.

The embedded Garmin will have a custom flip-up compartment in these Suzukis and will be called “T.R.I.P” which stands for Travel, Real-time traffic, Information and Play. It has features like Bluetooth connectivity, traffic info, and possibly MSN direct, making us a think this will be a customized version of nuvi 780 which you can pick up for $500 if you want to skip the Suzuki… read »

Motorola Z8m does GPS

This sleek looking phone from Motorola apparently has GPS features and is the 3rd generation of Z8 series, called Z8m. It is currently only on display in Korea selling for about the equivalent of $500.

Other features of this slider phone include:

  • 80MB memory
  • microSD card slot (4GB max)
  • one-touch music access
