Getac, manufacturer of rugged computers for field-based applications, is showcasing their new B300, a fully rugged laptop at a related conference in Seattle, Washington.
Getac B300 offers daylight readable screen at 1200 Nit claiming they’re industry’s first. There’s also the optional night vision feature for use in any lighting condition without sacrificing battery life. Getac says they’ve developed a new technology (patent pending) which utilizes a micro-controller and an advanced software to auto-adjust for brightness and allow instant override with a dedicated brightness hot key.
B300 weighs 7.7 lbs, comes with a 13.3″ TFT XGA transmissive display with optional integrated touchscreen. It is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo Merom L7500, 4MB L2 cache processor that operates at 1.6GHz and offers up to 12 hours of battery life on one battery. Standard package includes 512MB DDRII DRAM (upgradeable to 4GB), 80/120GB shock-resistant HDD, and sealed ports and connector cover.
The GPS receiver can be fully integrated but that’s an optional feature just like the Bluetooth 2.0, EV-DO, GPRS/EDGE, CMDA network support. The only standard feature in terms of connectivity is the 802.11b/g antenna.
Security features on B300 include fingerprint scanner, optional smart card reader, cable lock slot and TPM v1.2.
Ask about B300 next time you get pulled over by the highway patrol.
