Rockwell Collins ParaNav

The GPS navigation system equipped helmet from Rockwell Collins, ParaNav, is back in the news these days. Apparently the Marines put in an order for 3000 of these hi-tech helmets for parachutists. ParaNav integrates a full-color display that attaches directly to goggles or helmet shields.
The idea with ParaNav is to give the Marine accurate navigation capabilities and situational awareness in the air and have them pinpoint their landing zones. In case of plan B the Marine can also choose to divert to alternate sites with the same level of accuracy.
The helmet is more than just a GPS receiver and a dot on the screen. ParaNav also includes Wi-Fi interface for receiving Joint Precision Airdrop System data and even supports dead reckoning when GPS signals are not available… via
