Did you get any information on screen resolution, or DPI? Garmin needs to do better than wide quarter VGA to compete with the iPhone. They are coming up with the Garmin 5000 soon, which has quarter VGA, which is new for them. I look forward to higher resolutions on GPSs. That was one nice thing about the HP 310 GPS.

I use a Garmin in my Prius and it works better than the Toyota Nav system. I use Garmin nav systems in both helicopters and fixed wing aircraft and they are excellent
I’m not sure Ronny knows what he is talking about– I’m looking forward to the Nuviphone

Why did Garmin go with a “custom” OS? Why not Windows Mobile? Sure, it’s far from perfect, but with 3rd party software available, it would be an excellent all-in-one device.

Anyone know what cell network this will support?

I love my Garmin Nuvi. I use the bluetooth feature so I can use it for hands free talking. But having a cell phone built-in will be even better. I can’t wait.

I agree with Angelo: use WinMobile, Garmin! You can draw on the apps base out there and differentiate on best-of-breed GPS. I have lots of apps on my PDA (HTC Kaiser) and, however nifty the NuviPhone, I can’t just dump them. We don’t need another proprietary phone/PDA/GPS operating system with marginal applications support.

I agree with Syd. Garmin make excellent products. Ronny must work for Apple.
