RoadMate 1200 appears on Magellan’s website

Magellan Roadmate 1200
The new Roadmate 1200 from Magellan that we mentioned last week on Navigadget has finally made appearance on Magellan’s own website. It is advertised as being affordable but of course they do not mention about the 1200 being prepared for Black Friday like we suspected.

Do not let inexpensiveness fool you. The RoadMate 1200 is a fully featured GPS navigation system that has a 3.5″ touch screen just like many other sat nav devices and comes preloaded with maps of contiguous U.S., Hawaii & Puerto Rico (no love for Alaska?).

1200 is a very slim device, in fact it is thinner than the more expensive Maestro 3200 series. Other features are standard like the SiRFstarIII GPS receiver, rechargeable battery that can last up to 3 hours on a single charge, and 1.3 million point of interest. RoadMate 1200 is already on Amazon for $230.

the RoadMate 2000 includes several features normally found on more expensive GPS products. For example, a Trip Planner lets you preplan road trips with as many as 20 destinations. Even more interesting is SmartDetour, which detects when your highway speed slows significantly and suggests a detour. SmartDetour certainly isn’t as effective as the live traffic data offered on more expensive devices, but it’s still a nice addition.

the RoadMate 2000 gives you many options for searching POIs.
