Harman Kardon GPS-810
Harman Kardon introduced GPS-810 today, a new addition to their GPS navigation lineup which only consisted of GPS-500 and GPS-300 up until now.

The new GPS-810 is actually one of three GPS navigation systems introduced today, other two being GPS-510, and GPS-310. GPS-810 is the top of the line product priced at $600 and is expected to be available next month. It comes with a wireless rotary controller for in-car operation that could make things a lot easier for the driver. There’s of course the bluetooth connectivity nowadays expected from every GPS navigation system that costs over $300. But Harman Kardon does not throw in just any bluetooth function; it adds dual built-in microphones and a noise-cancellation system for best audio quality. Harman Kardon GPS-810 also comes with a wireless FM transmitter that can transmit voice commands and phone calls to your car’s speakers… via

Has anyone figured out how to get the FM tranmitter to connect to the car stereo? And then actually use the unit through the car’s speaker system? I have a 2003 Nissan Murano and whenever i turn the transmitter on, there is no sound from the unit, for any options.

Do i need to have it hardwired into the system?

    Regards

No you do not have to hardwire it. Im sure you know about the audio out setting. Once you select the station i have had to turn the fm audio function on and off by pressing the button on the screen to get it to work. The Fm function does not work that well for me, i bought a mini audio jack and pluged it into my radio.

How many built in maps does it have and what is the location of the maps/

SD, to make your 810 transmitter go through your radio, you must find a station that is not transmitting any broadcasting. Second, turn on the FM transmitter and dial to that station. Press and hold the silver button at the bottom of the remote for 3 seconds - that locks the station.

The problem you will experience is that in order for the directions to come through the speakers, you have to have the volume up relatively high. Being that you are moving, you will get a lot of static and it’s barely worth doing.

The best way is to have a unit in which you can wire the headphone out to an input into your stereo. Otherwise, it’s just an irritation.

I too had problems with the FM transmitter. I finally gave up and purchased the input wire.
