Oct 23, 2007 bluetooth, gps navigation

Super slim bluetooth GPS receiver G66 from GlobalTop is arriving to U.S. pretty soon since it just made it through FCC. G66 Bluetooth GPS Receiver uses 51 channel all-in-view tracking technology from Mediatek which is the manufacturer of the MT3318 GPS receiver chip on board.
The bluetooth interface allows the device to communicate with a variety of electronic devices from cell phones to laptops making them location aware. It depends on the software what you want to do this with this information of course. G66 has built-in flash memory so it can save satellite information and do almanac refreshes periodically which will improve Time To First Fix (TTFF) effectively.
This bluetooth GPS receiver is designed as an ultra low power consumption device, and high position accuracy. It will update the satellite position 5 times per second.
We have no info on pricing or availability just yet. We’ll keep you updated.

I wonder how the almanac will refreshes periodically. It is that when it is connected to an Internet connected device (PC, PDA, phone)?
