We have a review of the nuvi 200W, the lowest priced nuvi with a wide screen.

Reviewer liked the slim 200W a lot except a minor areas which were limited to the following:

There’s no way of displaying certain categories of points of interest on the map as you drive, despite the fact that you can load custom POIs in and display those on the map. There’s no route overview function – instead you have to tap the map to switch to 2D view and manually zoom out to see everything at once. There’s also no way to add traffic information as there is with most of the mid to high-end TomToms, and it isn’t compatible with the FM-transmitted TMC system either.

Other than this they also felt the software (or there lack of) to connect to your PC was insufficient but it could be downloaded for free from Garmin’s website. 200W costs £187 in the UK and $500 in the US.

This is a half empy glass type of person! Any moron can point out missing
features but I just got one and love it! How about at LEAST talking about
    the good features as well…

OK… Here’s what I think are the good features.

I like to research out before I buy. This is an excellent bang for the buck.
Don’t let the fact that it does not have traffic information stop you from
purchasing this decently priced unit unless you feel you reallllly need it.
W I D E screen is an awesome feature not found in very many units.
    I love it!
The only thing you find on much higher price units that I would find attractive
is instead of the unit announcing, “Turn right 400 ft.”, I would like to see it say, “Turn right on Oak St ahead.”
But I’m not complaining. This is you will find is the best bang for the buck.

This unit is a great buy, for the price, you can’t do much better. There is one correction to your post above, there is indeed a way to get a route overview via tapping the green bar at the top of the screen. See the video on the review link below for clarification.

I picked up some european maps on SD and they worked great for a trip I took. This is a great unit for the price. The unit is great for on-foot travel and the screen is very bright and easy to read in sunlight.

I’ve got a UI video here and a few more pics for anyone interested:
