GPS jammer against tracking devices

This GPS jammer simply plugs into your car charger and jams any signal broadcasting within 1450 to 1600Mhz range. It’s coverage is about 2 to 4 meters which is big enough to interrupt any GPS tracking device that may have been implemented in your vehicle. Pricing is not known yet but check out this site soon for it will be available very soon.

cell-guide-gps.jpgIsraeli company CellGuide today announced a new chip called ACLYS, which is the latest addition to their GPS products.

ACLYS - designed for mobile devices - is a high performance GPS chip in both autonomous and assisted-GPS modes. It provides -160 dBm sensitivity and utilizes unique and proprietary navigation algorithms for accurate navigation even in the most demanding urban environments. Its power management reduces power consumption to less than 10mW in tracking mode and it also operates with CellGuide’s long-term ephemeris technology for fast startups when no cellular network is available.

GPS watch for golfers: Pyxis RGPS-3000

A Korean company recently unveiled their new GPS watch designed for golfers. Called Pyxis RGPS-3000, this GPS watch will allow you to load your favorite golf course on to the device and keep track of your score. In addition RGPS-3000 will come in handy in many other outdoor activities such as running, bicycling, hiking, etc thanks to its software which can adapt to many conditions.

We have no info on its availability in the States, but in Korea they sell for 198,000KRW which is about $215… via

solar powered bluetooth GPS trip recorder

iBT-GPS Solar Bluetooth GPS Data Logger is a new product from Taiwanese Transystem Inc that should soon hit the shelves in U.S. iBT-GPS is a dual function device that can either record your trip info or act as a GPS receiver and pair via bluetooth with your handheld.

Thanks to its tiny solar panel this bluetooth GPS receiver can last 35+ hours on a single charge and can record 50,000 waypoints in its 8MB internal memory. It can record travel data based on three modes: by time, by distance or by speed - and thanks to its smart auto sleep and wake up mode it can always stay in power on standby.

iBT-GPS also comes with software to easily download your tracking data to your PC and display them in Google Earth. The software can also translate the data into many standard formats such as NMEA-0183 GGA, GSA, GSV, RMC, VTG, GLL.

iBT-GPS uses the 32 channel MTK GPS chipset. We have no info on pricing or availability just yet.

new Samsung i550 integrates GPS

samsung-i550.jpgExpected to arrive in late 2007 or early 2008 is a brand new smartphone from Samsung called i550. The i550 will be running S60 OS just like high end Nokias end will operate on HSPDA networks at 3.6 Mbit/second. What makes the new Samsung i550 interesting for Navigadget is its integrated GPS receiver.

Nokia LD-4W Bluetooth GPS Module

nokia-ld-4w-gps.jpgNokia is getting ready to release LD-4W, a new bluetooth GPS module which just made it through FCC regulations. People who were interested in adding GPS navigation functionality to their Nokia (or other brand) smartphones will find LD-4W to be very useful.

LD-4W is expected to replace the older model LD-3W which we talked about back in February 2007.

We have no information on pricing but it should be released in U.S. soon as that’s the case for gadgets that make it through FCC… via

make your own GPS with LCD

People at Makezine recently put together a really simple GPS receiver with an LCD screen. Its functionality is obviously limited but you can still use it for some basic geocaching.

MainNav MH350

MainNav MH350 is a basic GPS navigation system that offers a 3.5″ touch screen as well as several interface buttons to make controlling the device as easy as possible. In fact they even threw in a stylus. It uses a Samsung 2410 processor at 266MHz, and a SiRF Star III fold out GPS antenna in the back, right next to the integrated speakers.

MH350 has embedded 32MB Flash ROM and 64MB SDRAM but also offers SD/MMC card slot for maps and memory expansion.

new LR9750 GPS navigation system

LR 9750 and LR9752 are new additions to Leadtek’s line of GPS devices. They both use SiRF Star III GPS receiver and have text-to-speech functionality to pronounce street names in addition to support for RDS/TMC live traffic info. LR9752 is slightly different than LR9750 for it includes hands free bluetooth capability but the rest of the specs are pretty much identical.

Worthy of consideration here is the big wheel button on the front of the device that makes it easy to search for POIs that’s not found in other GPS navigation systems.

Both LR9750 and LR9752 also handle media files doubling as a mobile media center. We have no info on pricing or availability just yet.

new Asus P series phone with GPS

According to some rumors Asus is preparing a new P series smartphone running on Windows Mobile 6 Professional, and Marvel 520 MHz PXA27x processor with 256 MB ROM and 128 MB RAM. The new device will run on GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks and HSDPA at 3.6 Mbps and will feature 801.11 b/g and Bluetooth.

There’s an integrated SiRF Star III GPS receiver as well as an FM transmitter making the number of antennas on the device 5+. And don’t forget the 3.2MP auto focus digital camera.
