new AVIC HD3BT from Pioneer has a 30GB HDD
May 18, 2007 gps navigation

This Europe only model from Pioneer, AVIC HD3BT, has a neat set of features enough to make it the only source of entertainment in the car. First off, it is a fully featured navigation system containing maps of 26 European countries containing over 6 million points of interest. It can also talk to you in 10 different languages. All this data takes about 20GB of space, leaving the rest 10GB for your music library. The navigation system is quite sensitive since it does not only rely GPS signals to pinpoint your location.
The 3D Gyro Sensor, which connects to the speed pulse wire of your car, allows the system to take measurements in three directions: height (up or down), speed (distance) and direction (left or right), as well as calculate inclines, and detect distinctive road features such as tunnels, to pinpoint your driving position with the highest possible level of accuracy.
Get ready to give up that 2DIN slot in your dash since AVIC HD3BT has a nice 7″ touch screen, making it easier to operate the device while driving. You can also throw away your old stereo since this system will play your CD-R/RWs, DVD Videos, DVD-R/-RWs, and of course MP3s. And while it plays it will also burn your CD’s for you in about 15 minutes – including all their track titles. So you can search your music library by track, album name, artist name, genre and your own favourites list – and thanks to the voice command feature you can just speak the title of the song you want to hear and the system will play it for you.
The voice command also lets you control your bluetooth enabled cell phone, and even your iPod (requires an add-on).
You can expect the new AVIC HD3BT to cost at least 1,700£.
