Earthmate GPS BT-20

earthmate-gps-bt-20.jpgEarthmate last week introduced a new bluetooth GPS receiver called BT-20. The device aims to add GPS navigation functionality to laptops or other handheld devices such as mobile phones or PDAs. If the other device has no bluetooth, don’t worry. You can also hook up BT-20 via USB. You may think $170 maybe too much for a bluetooth GPS receiver these days but keep in mind this one comes bundled with Street Atlas USA 2007 PLUS DVD software. The PC-based software works with Vista (Windows 2000 and XP too) and includes a handheld device application.

Street Atlas USA 2007 provides maps of USA and Canada and comes with over 4 million points of interests. The software can do voice guidance (text-to-speech too), and has voice recognition so you can keep your hands on the wheel.

Earthmate probably had some space left over on the DVD so they decided to throw in 120 million residential and business phone listings in the U.S. and Canada as well. These addresses can also be incorporated into driving routes.
