Google, which had already made live traffic info and maps available to mobile devices now made traffic data available for the rest of us who don’t have a data plan with our providers.

The new feature will be available in 30 major U.S. cities and provide live (maybe ‘recent’ is a better word) traffic data to help you plan your route.

…just click on the traffic button to show current traffic speeds directly on the map. If your route shows red, you’re looking at a stop-and-go commute; yellow, you could be a little late for dinner; green, you’ve got smooth sailing.

Now all they have to do is use this info with driving directions to estimate a more realistic arrival time.
