SkyTRX Mini GPS Tracker
Feb 22, 2007 gps navigation, tracking
Here we have another GPS tracking system called SkyTRX Mini. Priced at $260 SkyTRX Mini promises to keep track of 100 hours of data (location and speed every second) but lacks the capability to do it in real time. Which means you’ll have to manually download the data to your PC and find out where the GPS tracker has been. The output from the device is Google Earth compatible so at least that part is going to be easy.
The device comes with a magnetic mount to make it easy to attach to steel surfaces and is powered by 2 AAA batteries. If you are thinking you can “hide” this tracker inside your subjects bumper thanks to the magnet; think again. Most GPS receivers need a clear view of the sky. Oh, and most bumpers today are plastic… via

I have heard of this GPS tracking device before and I think it could be of great use although it hasn’t the capability to do location in real time.

Apparently it is manufactured under different names. I have seen the same thing at ggppss.com but it is called Tracking Key. I’ve seen good reviews on them mainly because they don’t require the user to pay monthly fees.

You are right about it being marketed under different names. I have this identical product bought from LandAirSea.com. BTW it works perfectly both inside the car and stuck to the magnetic members of the bumper. Yes, even though bumpers are plastic externally, they have inner metal components.
