Garmin Zumo 400

Garmin just announced an entry level Zumo called Zumo 400. Specifically designed for bikes this navigator is easy to use while wearing big gloves. Zumo 400 features oversized buttons and a waterproof (IPX-7 standards) casing that is preloaded with regional maps. Not sure if this would useful in the U.S but the Zumo 400 is also preloaded with speed camera information.
The unit gives clear audio visual alerts when approaching cameras and warns you if you’re going too fast. The database is updated regularly to capture any location changes of fixed and mobile cameras. To ensure accuracy riders can subscribe to download the latest information whenever they want. The service is free for the first 3 months.
Just like the rest of the device, the power and data cable connections are also waterproof. And against thefts it includes a locking motorcycle mount. Another theft prevention system is called Garmin Lock, that disables the the Zumo from performing any functions until the user types in a 4-digit PIN or takes the unit to a predetermined secure location.
The zumo 400 is expected to be available from March 2007. We’re not sure where it will be released or how much it’ll cost. We’ll update this post as we get more info.
UPDATE: The only Garmin site that features the Zumo 400 as of now is Garmin of South Africa.
