Escort Passport 9500i GPS radar detector
Feb 8, 2007 gps navigation, gps radar detector

A new addition to our GPS radar detector series is the Escort Passport 9500i. This $450 radar detector has some unique features. The True-Lock Signal Rejection remembers the location of those ‘false-alarm causing’ door openers and motion sensors, including its exact frequency, so next time when you drive by that strip mall it won’t bug you. However it is small smart enough to detect the police car that may have parked there the next day.
Another feature that helps eliminate false alerts is the variable speed sensitivity that will turn off the sensitivity when you are at parking lot speeds or at a stop light. Smart eh?
Escort Passport 9500i also lets you mark down locations of known traps:
The PASSPORT 9500i’s “Mark Location” feature allows you to quickly store a specific location in memory. Simply tap the “Mark” button a couple of times and the 9500i will store this location in memory. The next time you approach this area, the PASSPORT 9500i will provide an alert well in advanced to remind you of the potential danger. This specific location reminder could keep you from being ambushed by instant-on radar or laser the next time you approach.
Also it is capable of adjusting the volume based on the ambient noise. These are all nice features. But with a $450 price tag it’ll have to save you from getting about three speeding tickets. Not for all of us but definetely a nice GPS radar detector. via

There is already a site designed to share software configurations for it (Known speed traps, false alarm areas, etc…)

Yeah, I used to have one of those phaser 1′s which everyone said was garbage and i really don’t see a difference other than I can block out false alarms. I’m not at all impressed.

hey guys – my tech supportguy and i were passing through the blogs and noticed your comments. we wanted to add a coupld of thoughts/facts:
on the 5 yr old v1 outperforming the new 9500i, you have to be careful ans think about 2 importnat technology changes – 1) the v1 has no true anitflasing rejection (yes, there is some minor DSP stuff going on but it is severly limited) so an alert from a v1, depending on the enviornment, is often a false alert – tech fact 2) the 9500i has variable speed sensitivity ans sophisticated antifalsing rejexction; which means for the given same environ ment as the v1, the 9500i will absolutely, and correctly, not alert nearly as often – this is not based sensitivity or whether its working but rather it is based on the fact that it is intelligently rejecting all of those annoying beeps and alerts that aren’t real. the 9550i reduces sensitivty as you drive slower – enter a parking lot and the 9500i only beeps once quick blip to let you know somehting real is out on the road and it displays the signal strength on the meter but it won’t annoy you w/ a continual beep. and then there is the ability of the 9500i to completely lock out true false alerts which also simply means that you will not ever hear it beep again for that particlular false alert source. if you have any questions, please let us know – thanks for you comments.
