Axion Geo-632 review

Axion Geo-632 we introduced back in November 2006 just got its first review from PCMag and managed to get only two points out of five. Reviewers say it costs $350 which shows they haven’t done their research, since we know this small online retailer (amazon!) sells them for $260. That should give Geo-632 at least another star.

The reviewers don’t like some of the menu options and what you can and can not display on the screen. However they’re pleased with the amount of memory (1.5GB) available and the long lasting internal battery (2700mAh).

A nice feature Axion Geo-632 has implemented (that we haven’t heard of before) is the dynamic pointer which changes shape depending on how you move and what time of the day it is:

The Geo-632 has what Axion calls a dynamic cursor. The cursor’s shape will show whether you’re in vehicle or pedestrian mode. It will also show your relative speed, becoming elongated as you travel faster. In the daytime modes, the cursor also has a shadow that shows you the relative position of the sun. I suppose this might be useful in the pedestrian mode: Positioning yourself so that your shadow aligned with the shadow on the screen would show that you were headed in the right direction.

And it also sounds like the directions provided by Axion Geo-632 are consistent with other devices that use NavTeq maps. So if you are not worried about the user-interface Geo-632 is an economical way bring GPS navigation to your world.
