guide dog is for real
Published on January 10th, 2007 in CES 2007, gps navigation
We talked about this device code named “guide dog” a while ago. After we looked at the features and the specs we thought it was not for real. Well we chased down the manufacturer PDC at CES 2007 and saw it first hand. The actual model name is PDC-668C.
It is a bit bigger than we thought it would be but the design is still unique and beautiful and the specs were very impressive. They haven’t found a distributor in North America yet but we’re sure it would be a success if they ever got around it.
Here are the specs:
- SiRF Star III GPS receiver
- 3.5” touch screen display
- 5 directional pad for easy gaming maneuvers
- 2 pre-installed games
- adjustable backlight and volume control
- PAPAGO version R12 navigation software
- Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 operating system
- SD/MMC/PSD memory expansion slot (anyone care to explain what PSD is?)
Like we mentioned in our previous article about Guide Dog, it doesn’t have a Bluetooth capabilities or parking sensor.
Suggested retail price is likely to be around $450 - $500
