AvMap GeoSat 5 supports PDA and smartphone navigation w/ its SD card

If you are into Italian stuff like shoes, cars, and football, you should check out GeoSat 5, a GPS navigation system made in Italy by AvMap. The GeoSat 5 comes with a large 5″ touchscreen and it is bright enough to see under sun light. You can make use of the nice screen in other ways too thanks to the audio / video input port. You can connect things like a DVD player, digital camera, rear view camera, and so on.

Here is where AvMap GeoSat 5 is unique: You can take out the SD card from your device and plug it into your PDA or smartphone. The card contains both the maps and the navigation software so you’ll be ready to navigate right away. GeoSat 5 comes in three different versions: 1. Country (you get to pick which country and thats all you get on your 512MB SD card), 2. European (2GB), and 3. North America (USA and Canada on a 2GB SD card).

AvMap also gives you free map updates on their website and you can also create new POI’s and set “approaching alarm” – which sounds like manual speed radar alarm.

It costs for 450€ ($590) for the country version, and 540€ ($710) for the Europe and North America version. However we could not find a North American seller for this model. If anybody finds a seller for NA please drop us a comment.
