ENV1200 is the new model from Chinese GPS nav system manufacturer RoadRover. It runs on a 400MHz processor (one of the fastest we’ve heard), and comes with a decent 128MB RAM. It uses a GPS receiver we haven’t heard before called the “JP30″ which seems to have the same specs as a SiRF Star III receiver: down to -159dBm sensitivity. The ENV1200 also plays your video files in AVI, MPEG, WMV, and MPEG1-2/4 formats on its 3.5″ screen, and plays your audio files in WAV, WMA, MP3 formats. Feel free to also bring your JPEG, GIF, BMP, PNG files too. Those are also supported.

This quite new in the sat nav world, but apparently ENV1200 can also display PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and text files. Now you may have already guessed that it uses Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 operating system.

For I/O you get an audio port, VGA port, two USB ports, external GPS antenna jack, SD card slot for expansion. The ENV1200 comes in 3 colors: silver, grey, or black and measures 133 x 132 x 27mm and weighs 300 grams.

other functions

  • door to door voice guidance
  • displays arrival time, distance, road name, direction,
  • saves addresses and destination data for easy navigation
  • touch screen dispaly
  • various built-in games

The ENV-1200 comes with 1GB SD card preloaded with maps, a remote control, and some cables. Dont get your hopes up. Not offered in North America or Europe yet. We’ll let you know when it is.
