Nav-Cam 7700 GPS navigation
Nov 22, 2006 gps navigation
Evesham just announced Nav-Cam 7700 GPS navigation system which is basically the same as AA Navigator Vive! with a different logo but the same navigation software.
The Nav-Cam 7700 features a 3.5″ touch screen and comes pre-loaded street-level maps of UK & Ireland on its built-in 256MB memory, but you still get your free SD slot to transfer media.
Just like most other systems sold in the UK the Nav-Cam 7700 also offers months (6 in this case) of speed camera databasea updates.
In the box with Nav-Cam 7700 you’ll get a car charger, windshield mount and a USB Sync Cable. It will cost you £150.

I notice this unit is also sold in USA (tigerDirect). They tell me this unit comes with maps of USA and Canada. I notice the spec here states in UK comes with 6 mo. of speed camera database.. Does anyone know if I can use speed cam data base in USA. Someone on ebay sells a data base for TomTom units..
Any extra info would be appreciated..
Thanks…

no one provides speed camera database for US for two reasons: there are no speed cameras used in the US and there are no resources that collect and provide speed trap information in the US to ensure this database is useful. For you, however, I’ll say that the speed camera database is fully up-to-date.
Any reviews or first impressions of this device?

I plan to buy the US version but we visit England yearly. Is it possible to upload the UK maps through the SD slot? I tried emailing Eversham but it has come back as undeliverable. Thanks for your help.

Yes, it should be able to read new maps through the SD slot but I’m not sure.

My Nav-Cam 7000 reads maps from the supplied SD card, which should allow you to switch from US maps to UK maps easily. Or maybe even load both US and UK maps on one card. I just checked the Nav-Cam website and the US version of the 7700 is also listed as reading maps off the SD card, and not stored on onboard 256MB memory like the article says, so it should work the same way. You just have to find a copy of the UK maps. One thing to note though, my 7000 seems to have a really hard time getting a signal. Its not uncommon for me to have to wait up to 5 minutes on first powering on before being able to use it. The company is Europe based so you may have better luck than me.

Does anyone know of a forum for owners of the nav-cam 7700? ( I just stumbled across this page and I’m not sure if this is the place for a detailed help issue.) I’m having all kinds of user problems and the supplied user manual isn’t helping. (example.. can’t find a way to delete stored favorites or switch between easy and advanced modes) It refers to screens and steps that aren’t on my unit. I’d like to find a place where I can have a conversation with other users and maybe work out the problems. I’ve tried sending an e-mail to the maker but they haven’t responded. If it makes a difference I purchased our unit through ThinkGeek.com.
On a posite note.. this has been working quite well to get us from point A to point B. :)
Thanks

The 7700 just got Woot!ed, so expect a few extra people reading this today.

Bought this on Woot and have been using it for a few days. Since this is my very first GPS it seems fantastic! I use the Mp3 player and the maps are quite accurate. I haven’t been able to leave the city yet so I’m not sure how it does on freeways.
I also don’t use the subscription as of yet because I don’t need it.
Once out of the box I wasn’t sure if it came with a instructional booklet or it was accidentally thrown away.
Does anyone know where I can get a download link for the instructional guide and if this only works with a paid subscription?
Thanks!

The user CD has the instruction and hardware manuals on it. You need to print it out for reference.

I just input a route from two cities with which I’m familiar, and the software routed me on a detour of over 400 miles! I’ve tried to get it to see the more direct route, but it really refuses to acknowledge the smaller roads and keeps trying to take me back to a main highway over 100 miles away. Doesn’t matter if I choose “Shortest”, “Fastest” etc. on the routing.
Suffice it to say, this is the least intelligent GPS I’ve ever used.

We have a Nav-cam 7700, that is stuck on the ‘Navigator, MP3, Photo, Setup menu page. We have tried the reset & total reset buttons but nothing. When it does bootup it says Nav-Cam Evesham, Did buy from Evesham but theyre no longer trading – could this be the problem? Any help would be grateful. Thanks

I am having all kinds of issues with it as well because it simply is not recognizing the GPS (even bought an external antenna but no luck). Also, I have experienced the same issue a number of times but it seemed to go away after leaving it turned off (using the hard reset turn off switch) for a hour or so.
This is what I would try (if ActiveSync is working): copy files from the CD onto the unit (basically replacing the files in the unit) then reset again.

I ordered the 7700 from Savapoint but was delivered the 6400. It suffices for my needs, I’m an 81 year old pensioner and mainly travel locally but need it on occasion. The Car Charger has stopped working. Can anyone please provide information as to my obtaining one? I have been trying for the last 2 months with no success.

Hi All, Now that Evesham is out of business does anyone know where I can get the disc or a copy with the N30 program and U.S. maps on it ? If you have an extra or are willing to send me a copy, I’ll pay for it, email me at t516wcf@yahoo.com. Put the word Nav-Cam in the subject line as my spam program will send most other emails into spam.
Thanks,
Bill
