Another new name to enter the GPS navigation market is Harman Kardon with a system called the Guide + Play. It will include a media player that is smart enough to sort your music and other media on artist name, genre, album, etc. Guide + Play will come with a 4 inch screen and you’ll be able to upgrade its memory to 4 GB using the SD slot. The internal rechargeable battery should last you up to 5 hours on a single charge. You can expect to buy the Harman Kardon Guide + Play for $500 in January.

The makers of the infamous BMW iDrive nav system (a real test of user patience and unusability) are now making a portable nav device. And it can play videos while driving…oh wait, that’s illegal, isn’t it?
I bought a GPS last Fall at Costco in Ottawa Canada. Now the screen will only flash on and off. Have checked the reset botton,on and off switch and have had it plugged in for 24 hrs. No change. Could it be the battery and if so, where can I buy one. I am in Crystal River, Florida.
