Audiovox NVX226 Portable Navigation – sub $300

NVX226 from Audiovox is a 3.5 inch touch screen portable navigation system that features turn by turn voice prompts through its speakers integrated into its cradle. NVX226 comes with street level maps of the entire United States and if for some reason you need to find your way around Canada, you can download that from the included CD-ROM onto the 1GB flash memory. The system also features a built-in rechargeable battery.

You can find the NVX226 at Amazon for $285 even though the MSRP is $600. It sounds like a good deal. (fancy carrying case included)

This is basically junk compared to most other GPS navigation models in the 250-300 price range. Purchased at EXPO for 251.00 Unit is temperamental about acquiring satellite single in reasonable amount of time. Unit doesn’t save prior settings/fav places or most recent places once power is turned off so U have to recalibrate and re-enter settings/fav places every time you turn it on (this gets old quick)Thought I had a bad unit and exchanged it. (no difference). The LCD does not have the best resolution and passing street names can be hard to read Esp. in night mode. If U do not use the Nav that much and U can grab it for say 100 bucks I guess it would be ok. I returned it and bought a Dual XNAV3550 for 249.00 (door buster price normally 300-350)this unit is slamming. Fast signal acquisition & Very feature rich (Esp. for 250.00) and supper clear LCD in both day and night modes. You can read my complete review of this model on this site.
