Earlier today we talked about Sony’s brand new NV-U71T GPS navigation system. What we forgot to mention is that Sony also unveiled the new NV-U51, which has the exact same form factor as NV-U71T but it lacks integrated TMC capability (it is optional though) and only comes with 512MB of memory. NV-U51 will only contain maps of the selected region where as the 71T will include all of Europe in its 2GB memory. Both devices use SiRF Star III GPS receiver chip.

I have a NV-U51 and whilst travelling from Strokestown, Ireland to Belfast I found that the bypasses at Cavan and Monahan were not shown. Will there be an update at a time in the near future when these will be programmed? Otherwise your product appears to be quite good. Also do you sell a bag or something to protect the screen when it is not in use? Thank you.

    Yours sincerely,
    Ron Wyllie
