Pioneer AVIC HRZ88 in-dash navigation and entertainment

pioneer-avic-hrz88.jpg
Pioneer continues to expand its AVIC series with HRZ88 this time; another 7″ monster navigation and entertainment system to fit into your dashboard complete with a remote control and an external GPS receiver. The new line-up is dubbed Raku-Navi and comes in five HDD-based models and four DVD-based models, priced from 147,000 to 325,500 yen.

The HDD models comes with 30GB of storage space but they all feature a TV receiver, DVD-VIDEO and DVD-R/RW (Video-Mode), CD, CD-R/RW, FM/AM, WMA and MP3 players. You’d be too naive to expect to see this North America. Sorry.

Hi, I have a Carrozzeria (Pioneer) HDD AVIC-HRZ88 that runs it’s FM frequency on the Japanese settings of 76–90 MHz. I want to try to alter it so it works on the UK USA / Europe frequency range of 87.5 to 108.0 MHz. Does anybody know how this can be done, where and how much. Also the Sat Nav and TV does work here in the UK, can this also be changed.

    Many thanks,

    Jon

I have the AVIC HRZ88 – although in Japanese, it hasn’t been that hard to work out what is what (to a point) and the manual for the AVIC-HD1BT has been VERY helpful as well (quite a similar product)….

My problem is that all of a sudden, after dozens of CDs and DVDs, the screen will not open so that the disc can be changed… I have tried resetting but still no luck. Any ideas?

Thankfully there is a LOT of music on there already (the radio doesn’t really work that well in NZ) but I am in the middle of an audio book and want my disc back at the very least!! :/

Again – for all those wanting manual in English, it is NOT available; the manual for the AVID-HD1BT is extremely helpful though and I have worked a few more things out using this.

If you are in Wellington, NZ, I have also heard that StreetSoundz can help (though I have not used them myself).

Cheers!! And if anyone can help with ejecting CD I would be very grateful!

  28. Derek Says:

    Hi,
To change the frequency range you need a frequency extender. You can get one at your local electronic store. It interfaces between the antenna jack and antenna input of the head unit
