dash navigation launches in stealth mode

A Silicon Valley startup company called Dash got a lot of publicity yesterday for claiming that they will be changing the auto navigation experience fundamentally. Not a whole lot of information provided on their website so far but they do share this snippet:
Dash saves drivers significant time and enables them to find and explore new destinations. Dash will not only deliver real-time and relevant information to the car, but also create a network of drivers who help each other avoid traffic and share information about their destinations.
For a demo of what the final product looks like we’ll have to wait until DEMOfall, held from September 25-27, 2006 in San Diego, CA.
The system is hardware and software working in sync and connecting to the dash.net network via cellular networks or Wi-Fi to provide drivers with real time up-to-date information on traffic. For example if another car with the dash.net system installed is stuck in traffic 5 minutes ahead of you, the system is smart enough keep you out of that mess and save you lots of time.
This is a great improvement over TMC or traffic news on the radio which do not just get enough updates. It sounds like the dash.net mesh network will provide real real-time traffic info.
