navsync gps receiver with wi-fi transmitter
Jul 21, 2006 gps navigation, hacks, tracking

This is a very good alternative to GPS tracking systems that uses GPRS which usually require a subscription to a network provider. The difference of NavSync’s product is that it uses the internet to transmit its location info. The CW85 from NavSync was originally designed for military applications. It uses NavSync’s low-signal strength GPS receiver with an 802.11 transmitter to broadcast location info over Wi-Fi. Since this device can work with low signals it does not even have to have a clear view of the sky to attain GPS lock and accurate position information.
The CW85 costs $385, provided you buy 100 of them.
